WHAT WE DO
Empower on-shift clinicians to treat patients effectively
And when clinicians have questions about their adult patients, they can consult with a UW psychiatrist 24/7 for support initiating MOUD and managing co-occurring disorders.
Support off-shift clinicians to understand opioid use disorder and its evidence based treatments
We connect clinicians with the information they need to better understand drug use, reduce stigma and take ownership of treating opioid use disorder (OUD) effectively. Our protocols and materials are reviewed and supported by public health and professional organizations across the state to give you the resources you need to address fentanyl dependence.
THE RESULT
Care based on best practices improves patient health outcomes — ScalaNW works to increase the competence and confidence of providers, leading to support and self efficacy for patients.
Our Approach
To provide the best care possible, our approach follows the principles of harm reduction — a set of practical strategies designed to reduce negative consequences associated with drug use.
Harm reduction prioritizes the safety of people who use drugs by supporting them in making positive change. Options for reducing harm include safer use strategies, reducing or abstaining from use, and improving the conditions under which people use drugs.
Harm reduction is proven to be the most effective way to reduce drug-related deaths and improve access to health care, social services, and treatment.
